The race course takes you through historic downtown Herndon during Herndon Festival weekend. Both the 10K and 5K courses are USATF certified. Awards are presented to the top two finishers from each age group from the 10 & under, to 70 & over.
A t-shirt will be given to the first 800 preregistered 10K and 5K participants. Following the race, participants can enjoy refreshments, door prizes, music, and an award ceremony. Breakfast breads and muffins will be provided compliments of Great Harvest Bread Company. In addition, runners will have the opportunity to visit vendors in our Fitness Expo and pick up some special offers.
Packet pick-up will be held Saturday, May 30, from 11am-4pm and on Sunday, May 31 from 6:15-7:15am at the Herndon Community Center.
Please Note: Participants should be able to complete the 10K race in 90 minutes and the 5K race in 45 minutes – After these times, race officials will transport any participants still remaining on the courses back to the Herndon Community Center.
Register
You can register through the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department Webtrac or through Active.com. Or you can use our race registration form, which is coming soon.
Fees
- Early Race Day Registration $30 (before April 24)
- Regular Registration $35 (April 25-May 30, 4pm) Online registration closes at noon on May 29. Walk-in registration will be taken at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave until 5pm on May 31.
- Race Day Registration $45 (May 31, 6:15-7:15am) Race day registration closes at 7:15am.
- Youth (15 & under) $20
**Please note that online regular registration ($35) closes on Friday, May 29 at 12pm
The Course
Both of the races are run on certified courses throughout the Town of Herndon on paved roads. USATF rules prohibit strollers, baby joggers, pets, in-line skates and headphones on the course. Water stops will be available throughout the course. The race will begin and end at the Herndon Community Center. View a map of the race route.
Post Race Activities
Refreshments will be provided for race participants. Door prize drawings will be made and you must be present to win. Post race music provided by a DJ who will also recognize age group winners. Visit our several fitness expo booths where vendors will be present from local businesses.
Medals
Medals will be given to the top two finishers, both male and female, for each race in the following age categories:
- 10 and under
- 11-14
- 15-19
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60-69
- 70 and over
Directions
From DC/Northern Virginia/Maryland, take Route 66 or 495 to the Dulles Toll Road. Take the Toll Road West to Herndon (Exit 10). Go right on Elden Street. Take a left immediately after the fifth light onto Ferndale Avenue.
Parking
Limited parking will be available at the Herndon Community Center. Additional parking is available at Herndon Middle School, located at 901 Locust Street (from Elden Street, turn right on to Locust Street before coming to Ferndale Avenue).
